A tidy desk means a tidy mind.
So they say.
EXCEPT most of us with an even vaguely tidy desk have got drawers FULL of chaos, confusion and clutter.
In which we CANNOT find.
The stapler, hole puncher, scissors or whatever.
We NEED now!!!
Even though we’ve five or so of each.
And that is BECAUSE …
… we have got five or so of every basic desktop essential.
PLUS two or three of all sorts of other desktop bits and bobs we NEVER use.
And THEN we get in a vicious circle.
Don’t we?
Where we daren’t let all the duplicates and triplicates and more in our desk drawers go because we can never find anything.
BUT the reason we can never find anything IS that we’ve got so many duplicates and triplicates and more in our desk drawers.
Aaaaargggh!!!
So today we’re going to take the plunge.
And let go of all those different desk accessories we’ve got ten of.
And give ourselves a fighting chance of keeping our desk tidy.
Which might not in the end – if I’m honest – give us a totally tidy mind.
But WILL help us feel a whole lot calmer.
If you’re following along with my quick daily declutter, read on. BUT if you’re new do hop back and read how just 10 things can help you declutter easily.
Just 10 Things – Desk Accessories
As always we’ll stick to the just 10 things rules:
- Take 5 minutes or so, 15 minutes max
- Focus on desk accessories
- Open our eyes to duplicates, triplicates and more plus the broken and never used
- And without yanking stuff out
- Spot any we’re ready to let go
Keeping our eyes peeled for old …
- Staplers
- Staple removers
- Hole punchers
- Letter openers
- Letter racks
- Paper weights
- Pen holders
- Desk tidies
- Scissors
- Tape dispensers
If they’re in reasonable nick.
And you don’t want to just throw them out.
Pop them in a box together for the charity shop.
Or after we’ve added in some more stationary clutter over the next few days, offer the box on a local Facebook buy and sell group.
The job lot could be super handy for a new college student.
Or local club or teacher.
