Are you a mug?
I’m such a mug.
GULLIBLE appears in big flashing lights above my head.
The moment I step anywhere near a beauty counter.
And I’ll fork out for all sorts of stuff.
Even though I have NO idea what it does.
OR how to apply it.
Just because I’m totally intimidated by the lady done up to the nines – and on commission!!! – behind the counter.
And so I end up with a grotty make up bag.
And dressing table drawer.
Full of a zillion one tubes of this, that and the other.
That will supposedly transform my peely-wally, Scots-Irish, hitting fifty pallor into a glowing, wrinkle free complexion.
BUT don’t.
BECAUSE I only ever use the same old foundation over and over.
And forget the rest.
In the dash to get out of the house in the morning.
Does that all sound familiar?
A fortune forked out to sales people – on commission!! – for now forgotten stuff going grotty in a heap in the drawer?
Well the good news is, you’re not alone.
There’s a lot of us mugs out there.
And today we’re saying NO to the scary ladies on the beauty counter.
And chucking out all those ancient concealers and bronzers and highlighters and what nots we never had time to apply …
If you’re following along with my quick daily declutter, read on. BUT if you’re new do hop back and read how just 10 things can help you declutter easily.
Just 10 Things – Makeup
As always we’ll stick to the just 10 things rules:
- Take 5 minutes or so, 15 minutes max
- Focus on our makeup
- Open our eyes to unused and grotty
- And without yanking stuff out
- Spot any we’re ready to let go
Keeping our eyes peeled for …
- Foundation
- Concealers
- Bronzer
- Blusher
- Highlighter
- Powder
- Setting spray
- Tinted moisturiser
- Brushes
- Sponges
Well done for anything you let go.
It’s tiny stuff.
But it is amazing how much that mass of grotty, forgotten stuff can drag our spirits down.
And just how much we can lift them by letting it go.
It’s usually a super quick job.
So if you’ve got an extra minute wash out your make up bag.
It’s such a simple thing.
But a powerful message to ourselves.
Which says these are my things I love and use.
AND I look after them.
It’s a vote of confidence in ourselves.
That helps us resist the efforts of all those sales people on commission.
On the look out for mugs.
