When we’re struggling.
In darkness.
Light gives us hope.
Doesn’t it?
Of another way to walk.
Of a different path for our lives.
And in a bleak mid winter.
This WAS the promise of the Christmas lights.
But these days with all the crazy clutter and chaos of Christmas time.
They can dazzle and confuse.
Lead us astray
And leave us lost.
So today we’re going to let go of some more of our Christmas clutter.
So the true light of the season can shine through …
If you’re following along with my quick daily declutter, read on. BUT if you’re new do hop back and read how just 10 things can help you declutter easily.
Just 10 Things – Christmas Lights
This is day two of our ten day Christmas declutter.
Usually, I write my daily declutter prompts so you can hop around quite happily if you don’t fancy following my exact order.
But these Christmas prompts build on each other.
So if you haven’t yet I would go back and read day one.
OK so yesterday we got out our Christmas boxes.
And let go of broken and unloved baubles.
But today we’re going to focus on all our different Christmas lights.
As always we’ll stick to the just 10 things rules:
- Take 5 minutes or so, 15 minutes max
- Focus on Christmas lights
- Open our eyes to those that have had their day
- And without as far as possible yanking stuff out all over the floor
- Spot any we’re ready to let go
Keeping our eyes peeled for …
- Tree lights
- Outdoor lights
- Candles
- Candle holders
- Lanterns
- Table top lights
- Light boxes
- Bulbs
- Tea lights
- Christingle kits
We’ll bin broken and un-mendable stuff.
And pop anything else in the Christmas give away box we started yesterday.
It might take a little time to see what works.
But don’t get bogged down.
Just let go quickly things you do not have the space to enjoy.
And someone else could enjoy more.
Then as we did yesterday.
We’re going to take five minutes.
To reflect.
But today on the places we find personal peace.
It could be through prayer. Or in song.
It could be by the sea. Or in the garden.
With grandchildren. Or those we have lost.
Again, we’re not writing these down.
We’re just focusing our memories on paths to peace in our past.
