Just 10 Things - 38 Freezer

Published: Jun 30, 2018 by Alice · This post may contain affiliate links · Leave a Comment

Declutter your freezer and actually save money and cut waste #declutter #just10things #happierwithout #cutwaste #lesswaste

It's a black hole isn't it?

Stuff goes in.

And never - mostly - comes out.

And if you ever do try to dive in.

You find all these weird forgotten packages you forgot to label.

I once tried to serve up frozen mash potato to my eight year old thinking it was ice cream.

She wasn't exactly impressed 🙂

But we all do it.

We have the basics we actually eat week in, week out.

And then random stuff we bought on offer even though it's not our thing.

Or fresh stuff we couldn't bring ourselves to throw out.

So today we're going to raid the freezer and find the forgotten stuff ...

If you're following along with my quick daily declutter, read on. BUT if you're new do hop back and read how just 10 things can help you declutter easily.

Just 10 Things  - Freezer

As it's the freezer we'll do things a bit differently today.

But we'll still stick to the just 10 things rules:

  • Take 5 minutes or so, 15 minutes max
  • Focus on the freezer
  • Open our eyes to the forgotten food
  • And without yanking everything out
  • Spot stuff that needs eating

And particularly look out for ...

  1. Fruit
  2. Vegetables
  3. Icecream
  4. Meat & fish
  5. Leftovers
  6. Ready meals
  7. Batch cooking
  8. Desserts
  9. Chips & fries
  10. Bread

Then rather than yanking stuff out.

We're just going to move to the top or front or a separate drawer the forgotten stuff we've been ignoring.

And scribble down a list of what we've got.

If you've been following along with just 10 things and wrote an eat-the-fridge meal plan yesterday you can top it up with the forgotten freezer stuff.

Otherwise set yourself a challenge.

And give yourself 2 or 3 weeks tops to get it ALL eaten.

And having created that freezer space.

KEEP it for food your family actually eats.

Week in. Week out.

NOT for random offers of cheap food.

Remember.

It's only a bargain IF you actually eat it.

And NOT if it sits forgotten in the freezer.

I hope today's gentle declutter prompt helped.
