Give ’em an inch.
And they’ll take a mile.
Some people are like that aren’t they? And so IS clutter.
Especially clothes.
And especially ANYTHING with a waist band like skirts.
We’ve got one that’s just that inch too tight to be comfy.
So we don’t wear it. Ever.
BUT we keep it.
BECAUSE it’s ONLY an inch.
And we can easily lose an inch, can’t we?
But we don’t.
Life. And children. And food. And the years passing.
Get in the way.
And before we know it, we’ve another bunch of skirts just that inch too tight.
And we keep them too.
Because after all, it is ONLY an inch and we can lose that.
But we don’t.
And before we know it …
… we’ve got a wardrobe full of skirts – many of them lovely – a whole lot of inches too small to do up even a tiny amount.
So today we’re going to declutter our skirts that don’t fit and take back all those miles of space they’ve stolen in storage …
If you’re following along with my quick daily declutter, read on. BUT if you’re new do hop back and read how just 10 things can help you declutter easily.
Just 10 Things – Skirts
As always we’ll stick to the just 10 things rules:
- Take 5 minutes or so, 15 minutes max
- Focus on skirts
- Open our eyes to all those that don’t fit
- And without yanking stuff out
- Spot any we’re ready to let go
Keeping our eyes peeled for all those different styles we’ve enjoyed in their time but haven’t worn for years …
- Maxi
- Mini
- Midi
- Pencil
- Pleated
- A line
- Floral
- Full
- Denim
- Asymmetric
Well done for everything you let go.
It was a hard one for me, finally saying farewell to well loved pre-pregnancy skirts I had not been able to zip up in almost a decade.
BUT as I passed them onto someone they do actually fit, it struck me again that however well loved they were, I have found something I love much more.
And THAT is space.
Gently letting go of clothes as part of my daily declutter has given me the space to enjoy and care for the clothes I actually wear.
And more than anything that space has given me peace of mind back.
